FAB Random Thought: Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’ Does Something to Me!

I’m sure I happen to be one of many who snatched up Erykah Badu’s latest album, New Amerykah, Pt. 2: Return of the Ankh.

Since her debut 13 years ago, she’s brought nothing but the best. Some say she went left field, I say nah maybe they went left field!

I gotta admit that I’m extremely happy and this’ll definitely be an album that’s played until I come across another one to replace it!

*side eye/kanye shrug* Sorry Raheem DeVaughn- BUT I loved your album and have been bumping it since it’s release AND I’ve put several people on to it, so they’ll be listening to the album on my behalf. LOL

Anyways, back to Erykah’s latest… The song Window Seat just does something to me… I can’t quite put my finger on it- but I know it describes a feeling of uhh… umm… yeah, that feeling! When I really sat down and listened to the lyrics (I haven’t seen the video yet) one thing hit me, I ALWAYS request a window seat. It allows me to look out into the world and share MY thoughts with what’s out there and forget about what’s bothering me.

Weird? *shrugs shoulders* To you maybe, but not me… Whether I’m on a bus, plane, at a restaraunt, where ever there’s a window that’s where I wanna be, right next to it.
Canadian Press’s review mentioned something about here that caught me and just stuck with me.
What you get is a woman who needs yet fears love, a “recovering undercover over-lover” unafraid to reveal her soft spots, as she does on startling, guerilla-style video for “Window Seat.”

Oooohhh I love this song- puhleez sing with me:

So can I get a window seat
Don’t want nobody next to me
I just want a ticket outta town
A look around
And a safe touch down
Window seat
Don’t want nobody next to me
I just want a chance to fly
A chance to cry
And a long bye bye..
~Erykah Badu’s Window Seat lyrics

I gotta get back to work…

Until next time… :P

FAB Kid Swag: Willow Sets her own Trend at the 2010 Kid’s Choice Awards

I’m doing my random entertainment/celebrity news search for my show prep this morning. Oh yes, I’m a radio personality for 106.3 The Heat (I’m in the Navy- so you’ll only hear me if you’re stationed wherever I’m stationed!)

Okay, back to the original post. I’m doing my random search and I came across some pictures that just made me say, “Aww, this is so cute!”

Well, some may give the photo a side eye, but I love it because it shows Willow as an individual not someone who follows the trend. I love it even more because she’s a little girl and pretty much took a chance on creating her own style. How many children do you know will do something or wear something out of the norm? Not many!

She’s definitely got FAB Swag in this photo…

Until next time… :P

FAB Features: Trey Songz Graces the Cover of Upcoming VIBE Magazine

Okay, okay, okay… I tried my best to stay away from this one BUT I couldn’t help it!

Trey Songz is gracing the cover of the upcoming VIBE Magazine. Now, I don’t totally agree with Sandra Rose and her saying he’s on the DL *kanye shrug* but oh well, folks are entitled to their own opinion right? *sn* Sandra Rose is pretty bias anyways… Check her page out and you’ll see who she speaks highly of and who she dogs out! Uggh!!!

Well, I guess three albums in the game, he’s finally gettin’ the recognition he deserves!
Anyways, I’ll be snatching up the upcoming issue of VIBE Magazine ;)

Until next time… :P

FAB Motivation: Closed Hands Don’t Get Fed

After a brief conversation with a friend I realized, closed hands don’t get fed.

I, like a handful of others, allow pride to get in the way of asking for anything from anyone out of fear that we may forever be in debt to the person that helps us. A friend simply put his hand out and made a fist and said, “Now, what can get into this?”

Me, thinkin’ it was a trick question smiled nervously and said, “Nothing.”

He said, “Right! So, now what comes out of it?”

Once again, I thought it was a trick question but replied, “Nothing.”

He smiled and said, “My point exactly! Now, if you keep a closed hand, you’ll never receive nor being able to give effectively. From this day forward, don’t think about how many people you’ll be in debt to, just think about how there will forever be you and someone else looking out for one another when either person is in need.”

I shook my head in agreement and I must say, I allow my pride and fear get in the way of me taking or asking anything of anyone. I always have this lingering feeling over me as if I’m forever in debt to this person.

Today, I make a promise to keep an open hand so I may be fed just as much as I’m feeding others.

Until next time :P

FAB Motivation: Be Thankful at all Times

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ. ~The Bible

As humans, we forget to do three important things in our lives and that’s: be joyful, pray continously and most importantly give thanks in all circumstances.

Why is it important to give thanks in all circumstances? Simply because as the verse states- it’s God’s will for you in Jesus Christ.

So, whatever it is that you’ve experienced or are experiencing or maybe will be experiencing, at the end of it all, just give thanks! A lot of people don’t even have the chance or opportunity to do it at all.

The next time you find yourself in a rut or feeling down and out just say THANK YOU JESUS! It’s that easy and just know you don’t have to always wait until something good happens to say thanks.

I say all of this to say: Be thankful at all times!

Until next time… :P

FAB Music of the 90′s

I don’t like to say I’m a music conniseur but I will say I LOVE music! Especially music of the 80′s and 90′s.

Yes, I’m an 80′s baby!

The music video I’ve chosen for the day includes four beautiful, classy, harmonious and talented women, En Vogue.

Oh boy, what I’d give to have them back together today!

Enjoy…

FAB Motivation: Making the Best of Any Situation

“With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose.”

~Wayne Dyer

The quote above is a quote I’ve had on my signature block for over a year now.

Wayne Dyer’s words stands true in my life in so many ways and believe it or not, I’ve grown a lot just in reading this every time I’m checking my email, which is everyday, all day!

I’ve learned to treat everything as a learning experience and moving on from it. The experiences include failure in different areas of my life personally and professionally.

The first song that comes to mind as I share this is Aaliyah’s song, Try Again. I’m not taking the song literal- just the hook.

“If at first you don’t succeed, you can dust yourself off and try again.”

I say all of this to say this: Make the best of all situations good or bad and turn them into learning experiences.

Until next time… :P

What’s Your Dream?

Dream on!

Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul;

the blue prints of your ultimate accomplishments.
~Napoleon Hill
I don’t know about you but as a 29-year old, I’m not afraid to say that I’m still growing up…
Everyday I wake up, I ask myself, what do I want to be when I grow up? It’s funny how I can never come up with the same answer! Funny huh? Yes indeed, I sometimes feel like that child who see’s Superman, Inspector Gadget, their teacher and/or that firefighter causing them to change their minds just as often they have to change clothes.
At the end of the day, I try and sit down to evaluate everything I’ve done (that day) and jot them down on paper separating them into two columns: Did I like it? or Why I didn’t like it? When I do this, I often find it helpful a great deal and helps in figuring what my calling or niche maybe.
To be honest, one day I feel something is my passion and the next, I realize it isn’t. Well, I’ll continue to do what I’ve been doing evaluate things I’ve done and hopefully it’ll lead me to what I want to be when I ‘grow up’.
So, right now I ask myself what’s my dream? My answer is this: to continue dreaming and go with the flow.I say all of this, this to say this: Dream on everybody!

It’s okay to dream! I’m grateful that God has and still is allowing me all the opportunities to experience everything from being a fast food worker, to a call center representative, to being a sailor, to a cosmetologist, television/radio broadcaster and to even pick up hobbies such as blogging and sketching for a possible handbag collection.

Until next time…

Welcome!

Hi and thanks for visiting All Things Fierce and Beautiful.

This blog page will make my third page since I began blogging in late 2006 early 2007. A month or two ago, it came to me that I’ve outgrown a few things and my content had to change. When I say change, I mean in a more positive manner.

Here you’ll definitely find a way to be inspired personally and professional. I’ll share words, pictures and may even post a few questions to open up dialogue between you and I.

I’ll talk about everyday life, fashion, entertainment and whatever you’d like to talk about. Feel free to shoot me an email with ideas or topics you’d like covered and I’ll do my best to cover it!

Again, thanks for visiting All Things Fierce and Beautiful.

Until next time… :P
